June 10, 2013 - Best laid plans....

Today started off quite well.  Elijah was a very happy boy this morning.  He spent most of the morning, playing with both Hilary and I before his 2nd breakfast, and was enjoying every minute of it it seems.  We played "swords" with water bottles, he collected blocks in a little hat, and just generally was very happy.  We had made some arrangements to potentially go swimming in the afternoon, so we put Eli down for a nap around 10:00, and he was able to sleep for about an hour.  We had made arrangements to be picked up around noon, and went down for pick up.  We waited for a while in the courtyard, and at about 1:30, we figured that there was probably a problem, so we went back to our room.

The weather hadn't been great, so it was determined that we would not be swimming after all.  So with our plans changing for the day, we put Eli to bed for another nap at about 2:30, and he slept for a little while.  Around 3:30, we received a phone call saying that our ride was here.  We were confused about what ride that was.  We got Eli ready quickly, and went downstairs.  We asked where we were going, and were told that we were going to get our passport from the agency office.  He then asked whether our child's name was Isaac... Oops, then we realized what had happened.  It turns out that he had confused us with another family here (but staying at a different guesthouse), and actually was supposed to take them to pick up their visa.  We knew that this was coming in for the other family, which allows them to travel home.  It was a bit of a shock to the system today to be hurried around and plans changed on us.  At this point, our day felt like a bit of a waste.

But, the evening was great.  We made some arrangements to go out for supper to celebrate A,B&I's visa coming in.  They are travelling home tomorrow.  We are sad to see them go, but it was great getting to know them, and we look forward to getting to know them more, but hopefully in Canada.  Supper was also spent with another family that is here to adopt.  They will be back in a few weeks hopefully to pick up their girl.  Supper was pretty good, and the company was also great.  It's amazing how adoption has brought families together, even without living close together.

We have gained some amazing friends through this process, and we hope that many of these friendships will continue for a long time to come.
