June 1, 2013 - The day we went visiting...

Today was a long, but excellent day.

We woke up at the normal time this morning, and did everything the same as we normally do.  We had made plans to spend the afternoon and evening with A,B&I, so we felt that Eli might benefit from a morning nap.  We got him to sleep for about an hour, and then he was done, so we spent some time entertaining him.  Just before lunch, it poured, about as hard as we've seen it rain here since we've gotten here.  It was cool to see all that rain.

At 1:00, we left to meet them at their guesthouse, and  waited in their lobby until their boy woke up.  Once he woke up, we were ready to go to a friends friends house for lunch.  We got there, and chatted with this friend, and our hosts.  Turns out that many of the guests that came and went during the time that we were there, had lived at one time or another in North America.  The friend who gave us a ride, actually hailed from Winnipeg, and had worked at St. Boniface Hospital.  Another man used to live in San Jose, and we exchanged some information with him.  They all loved the kids, and we had a great time getting to know some new people.  The food there was great (says everybody), but again, not really my style, so I did not partake in everything.  I did have kitfo, which is raw beef.  It was pretty good.  I wouldn't eat a lot of it, but it was edible :).  It was kind of like raw steak.

At about 5:20 our driver drove us to the Beer Garden Inn.  We had made plans to meet another friend there who is in Addis for her court date.  We had chatted online many times over the past few months, and it was great to finally meet her and her family.  We had supper, and chatted.  It was a great time meeting "new" friends, and sharing in the excitement about their visit of their soon to be daughter.

At around 7:45, we called it a night and called Markos to pick us up.  We had had a great day, but Eli was tired, and we were ready for bed as well.  We got back to the guesthouse, and immediately put Eli to bed.

All in all, it was a great day.  Tomorrow, we are going to church, and we'll see what else comes of the day.
